myKomax Account Instructions
To enhance the security of your services we recommend securing your account with multi-factor authentication. Setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an important step in the registration process that will make your account permanently more secure.
Things to know about MFA
Compromised passwords are one of the most common ways to gain unauthorized access at your data or your identity. Using multifactor authentication (MFA) is one of the easiest ways to enhance the security of your account. In order to prove your identity you are required to provide two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) when signing in to myKomax.
How does multi-factor authentication (MFA) work?
You sign in as usual with your e-mail address and password. Next, you will be prompted to enter a second factor of verification. If you use Microsoft Authenticator, you will find a 6-digit code in your app under “myKomax Login”. Enter it as the verification code on the login page and you are logged in.
Why is multi-factor authentication (MFA) more secure?
MFA provides an additional layer of protection for your account. If you use the Microsoft Authenticator app, for example, a 6-digit code will be displayed for you to verify. This verification code is unique and changes every 30 seconds.
Which means that a person who tries to log in with your email and password, even if they know what code you used last time, will not be able to know the current verification code.
This makes your account extra secure against attackers.
What do I need in order to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
In order to use multi-factor authentication, register your device using an authenticator app. We recommend using the Microsoft Authenticator app for this.
To install and use the app you need access to a smartphone or tablet.
Is it mandatory to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) during registration?
It is generally not mandatory to use MFA to sign in to the myKomax platform at the moment, unless you have access to services with sensitive data. For this, it is mandatory to use MFA for every login to myKomax.
If you have access to services with sensitive data, it is mandatory to use MFA for every login to myKomax.
Even if you are not obliged to use MFA, we recommend that you do so to protect your account.
Setting up multi-factor authentication
You can set up MFA during the registration process.
To proceed with the MFA-Set-up, you will need a smartphone or tablet.
1Install Microsoft Authenticator on your iOS device
Go to the Apple App Store and search for the Microsoft Authenticator. Download the free app to your iOS device.
2Add myKomax Account to the Microsoft Authenticator app
Open Microsoft Authenticator and click on the “+”-Icon to add a new account.
Choose “Work or school account”.
Open your myKomax account registration and click on "Enable MFA now" to show an unique QR code.
Select “Scan QR-code” in your Microsoft Authenticator App and point the camera of your device at the QR code displayed in myKomax. The code will be scanned.
3Enter verification code on myKomax
Keep the authenticator app open.
On myKomax click the “Next” button. You will be asked to enter a verification code.
In the Microsoft Authenticator app, open the new entry “myKomax Login”.
A 6-digit code is displayed. Enter it on myKomax as the verification code and click “Submit”.
4Save your recovery codes
On myKomax a list of ten recovery codes is displayed. Save them in a place where you can find them later.
Option A: Click on “Print” and select “pdf” in the printer menu to store a pdf-document on your computer.
Option B: Click the “Copy” button. Open a new word document and paste the codes. Save the document on your computer.
Once your recovery codes have been saved click on “done” to finish the set-up.
Account recovery
If you lose your device or do not have it with you, a recovery code is the only way to regain access to your account with active multi-factor authentication. Therefore, store your recovery codes in a safe place.
Why do I need a recovery code?
A recovery code helps us to ensure that it's you accessing your account. Keep your recovery codes safe, so nobody else can get access in your place.
How can I recover my account?
Begin the login process as usual. After entering your username and password, you can use the recovery code instead of the verification code from your authenticator app.
