Komax wins the “Oscar of the façade industry”

Komax is the proud winner of the Prixforix 2021. The Prixforix is awarded to the most attractive and trendsetting façade in Switzerland. The jury was exceptionally impressed by the façade of the vertical factory at Komax headquarters in Dierikon, which was occupied in 2020. A total of 39 properties were nominated.
Employees highly appreciate the inspiring working environment at the new production and development building at Komax headquarters in Dierikon, which was occupied at the beginning of 2020 – and the vertical factory is now an award winner, too. Komax has won the Prixforix for the façade of the new building. This is the fifth time the prize has been awarded since 2010.
The jury particularly appreciated the low-tech approach and thus the focus on sustainability. For example, the louvers prevent excessive sunlight during the summer months, while still allowing in sufficient daylight at all times. The jury was also impressed by the fact that the natural ventilation and lighting, thermal insulation and night cooling were implemented by means of a two-layer building envelope and do not require much technology. According to the jury, the glass façade behind the envelope is impressive due to its simplicity, efficiency and economy.
Designed by the architects Graber & Steiger from Lucerne, the vertical factory has already won the “best architects 22” award. The new Komax building has a total area of over 20,000 m², which is divided between the basement and six floors.

Thomas has been with Komax for 28 years and has been responsible for facility management since 2010. Since 2015, he has been intensively involved in the development of the new building. From the start of construction in 2017, he was responsible for planning and implementation as the overall project manager.
