Automated processing of multi-core sensor cables

Technology & Innovation

Sensors and actuators are increasingly connected to industrial applications. The multi-core cables required for this purpose can be assembled automatically.

With the trend towards autonomous vehicles, the number of sensor cables in vehicles continues to increase and the need to process them automatically is growing. Komax strengthened its expertise and market position in this area by acquiring Exmore, a company specializing in this field, on October 1, 2019. Komax subsidiary Exmore develops specific applications for the automated processing of multi-core sensor cables. We show you how their processing works using the example of single-pair Ethernet cables (SPE). The demanding cables are mechanically stripped, crimped, fitted with housings and then insulated with heat-shrink tubing. Along a typical sensor assembly line, these standardized, automated processes offer a lot of potential. Discover the key wire processing technology for industry 4.0 with SPE.
