The new On.Class training courses: Komax relies on the virtual classroom
Technology & Innovation
Well-trained employees add measurable value in terms of quality and performance. Based on this insight, Komax Academy has developed its hybrid concept with On.Site and On.Line training courses with certification exams. Now, we are expanding the offering with virtual On.Class training courses using Mixed Reality.
Key insights
For many years, we have been successfully training our customers’ employees with On.Site and On.Line training courses.
In response to the current pandemic, we developed a new training format based on the On.Class training courses. A group of students meet with a live facilitator in a synchronous online environment.
With help from augmented, virtual and mixed reality, users can see how a process or application works in real time and communicate with experts from far and wide.
Anyone choosing machines and test systems from the Komax Group gains the highest standards of quality and performance. A product will only deliver the expected productivity and reliability if it is optimally operated and maintained. However, companies often lack the resources to train their employees properly. This is where the continuously expanded Komax Academy offering comes in.
On.Site: proven and modular
Training constantly challenges us. Since their introduction, the certified On.Site training courses have fully proven themselves. Customers appreciate the modular design. For every Komax Group product, there is solid technical training at three skill levels: Basic, Advanced and Specialist. In addition, there is a trainer course for teaching didactic skills. This gives you, the customer, the certainty that each of your employees is optimally prepared for their respective role.
Assessment: certified competence
Every on On.Site training course consists of a theoretical and a practical part and concludes with a certification test. In the course, you and your course participants benefit from modern, web-based teaching tools and from the methods and teaching expertise of our classroom training instructors. Certificates from the Komax Academy prove that your employees have mastered Komax machines, equipment and the course material.
On.Line Training: individual learning under control
Our On.Line training courses, introduced in 2013, minimize your internal training efforts. The interactive concept adapts to the learning pace of the participants. With the click of a mouse, they can view content in more detail and go back to the lesson to repeat steps. In the exercises, they get continuous feedback on their input. They can skip content that they already know. All of this creates optimal conditions for bringing learners with different qualifications up to the same level, preparing them more quickly for their work tasks and bringing them up to a required level for an On.Site course at the Komax Academy.
There are now over 100 units, in up to 13 languages, in the following areas: fundamentals of wire processing, stripping machines, cutting and stripping units, crimp to crimp machines, machines for producing wire harnesses, process modules, software and networking, labeling, quality tools, testing and bundling and taping machines.
Virtual training formats: our response to current requirements
The pandemic, which has continued since spring 2020, enormously reduces the ability to plan classroom events. That is why many companies are increasingly demanding virtual and hybrid training formats. We took on this challenge early on. How well do these formats work for training machine repair and maintenance, for example, or for learning social skills? Can these competencies be trained at all without personal interaction? To answer the question right away: yes, development programs for these issues work in a virtual and hybrid setting.
Virtual On.Class training: learning in a synchronous online environment
For virtual On.Class training, we developed a synchronous online environment where learners join a group with a live facilitator – just like in-person training in a showroom or production floor. Live video streaming, screen sharing, an online whiteboard and streaming of live interactive media presentations are used. This results in a comprehensive online classroom environment suitable for both educational institutions and individual teachers.
Mixed Reality: training with the Microsoft HoloLens 2
Depending on the application, our trainings are supported by Mixed Reality using Microsoft’s HoloLens 2. Augmented, virtual and mixed reality (AR/VR/MR), bring us in a visual space where we can better understand certain scenarios. Users can see how a process or application is working in real time and collaborate with experts from far and wide. So they don’t just learn through text or videos: they are immersed in a virtual world and learn more holistically, because they perceive new experiences in a highly emotional way.
A model with a future
We will continue to offer virtual On.Class training after the end of the pandemic because we are fully convinced that we can achieve excellent results with far less effort. If you have any questions or suggestions on this subject, please do not hesitate to contact the author.
